Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the insertion of special needles into specific points of the body to achieve a healing response. It is useful for managing a wide variety of conditions, including:
- Pain management
- Arthritis and lameness
- Cat flu
- Idiopathic cystitis
- Kidney and liver disease
- Neurological disorders
- Skin conditions
- Behavioural conditions such as anxiety, obsessive compulsive behaviour
Acupuncture is a very safe and effective form of treatment for many species, and cats are especially welcoming and responsive to acupuncture. When practised by veterinarians trained in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), adverse effects are extremely rare. By combining TCVM with Western Veterinary Medicine, the advantages of both paradigms can be integrated to achieve the best outcome for our patients.
